I became a bike nut in 1996 when I was talked into doing the California Aids ride. This was quite an endeavor, as I hadn't ridden a bike since childhood and had only 10 weeks to train for the ride. After finishing the ride someone told me I had to do the LA Wheelmen's Grand Tour Double Century, which was two weeks after the Aids Ride...so after riding for a total of 12 weeks, I rode the double (in 21 hours! Ohmigosh!) and became completely addicted to the sport... Since 1996 I've ridden 40 double centuries, bunches of brevets, around the World (19,000 miles) in the year 2000, and rode Furnace Creek 508 in 2005 (4 person relay). But I also love to crew for rides. I lead a group of riders for 6 months across Europe in 2003, crewed for RAAM Team 60+ in 2005, and can't wait to crew for Jim Kern...who paid his dues by dragging me for 200 miles on my tandem in December 2005.
